The following represents some of our projects past and present. For more information on any of these engagements please contact us.

Early-Stage Turn Around and Exit

XAP was engaged to take over the operation of a failing, early-stage company. One of our partners assumed the interim CEO role for this technology-based platform. The company offers a point-of-purchase platform that electronically connected manufacturers, distributors, dealers, finance and insurance companies with point-of-sale, capital equipment transactions. The platform instantly enables customers with financing approval to obtain insurance underwritten by a Fortune 100 insurance company. This Fortune 100 insurance organization has partnered exclusively with our client.

All facets of a capital equipment transaction covering a wide variety of assets, from computers to large construction equipment, are incorporated into an efficient, cost effective, electronic point–of-sale transaction. The robust and multi-dimensional platform that seamlessly supports the company has been tested over many years to handle many thousands of transactions.

This company is now turned around and XAP assisted the Board in appointing a full-time CEO. One of our partners then served as Chairman and helped lead the company to a successful exit.

Assisted Launch and Revenue Attainment

XAP was engaged in the creation and running of a start-up that has built a proprietary SaaS platform that connects and facilitates payment between lenders and borrowers. Focused on service companies that typically adhere to old-fashioned, paper-based methods of mailing invoices and statements, and waiting to be paid by check, our client offers a cloud-based software solution to the payments process.

Initially going to market to enable customers to pay over time for goods and services they needed, but could not afford to pay up-front for, our client‘s software bridges the growing payment gap in the services industry. In addition to payment plans, this company has built the functionality of a Virtual Terminal that enables payment right now or over-time, complete with the workflow, automation, security and compliance necessary to make managing all transactions easy and affordable. The company offers a scalable software solution to meet the growing payment needs of merchants and consumers in service industries. This company now has a host of clients in multiple verticals and is generating healthy revenue.

Assisted Launch and an Exciting Future

XAP was engaged to manage the early commercialization of an exciting new technology platform that has tested out as a highly accurate approach to detecting fraud. The patented software can be easily embedded into existing online enrollment and claim filing systems.

It is estimated that 5% of global GDP, more than $3.5 trillion, is lost due to occupational fraud (employees and insiders). Consequently, there are unlimited industry verticals including enrollment applications (employment, travel visas, benefits, etc.), health screening, compliance, border control, insider threat detection, and others that would benefit from improved fraud detection.

For example, there are more than 6,000 insurance providers in the US, with $1 trillion in premium revenue annually. Globally, there are tens of thousands of providers, with premium revenue approaching $5 trillion. Insurance fraud is rampant, exceeding $80 billion in 2014 in the US alone. Many organizations are negatively impacted by fraud. By flagging potentially deceptive or otherwise misleading information using patented technology, fraud detection will be dramatically improved.

XAP helped this company through formation and its initial funding, and the company has since had successful Series A and B venture capital rounds and now has an amazing valuation and future prospects.

Technology Assessment and Strategy

XAP has often been engaged by domestic and international companies to conduct and/or assist in technology assessment and related strategies. In some cases our efforts have been for start-ups trying to determine how to best frame their company, while in other cases our efforts have been for existing organizations wanting to pivot their product and/or services or to better harness technologies for internal use.

Rethinking a Start-Up’s Unique Value Proposition

XAP assisted a start-up that offers cloud-based, patent information and valuation services with strategies to raise money and grow, and we helped that firm to plan spin-out and cross licensing opportunities. The technology enables entrepreneurs, patent attorneys, investors, corporate business development specialists, M&A teams, and others, to search and mine a clean, comprehensive, structured, online database derived from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent filings. The company has raised its initial seed capital and recently received a phase I SBIR grant and is testing its platform and e-commerce services.

Operational and Technology Leadership Advising

XAP assisted with a cross-school strategy and the restructuring of a technology organization within a private, well known, multi-campus, multi-school university. Serving as interim CIO, one of our XAP partners worked closely with the president and provost developing strategic direction, structure, and process to achieve a change of goals and focus. Our partner also assisted with the search for a full-time CIO. Our partner also then served as interim COO for a geographically remote campus, developing an operational analysis and strategic decision roadmap.

Executive Coaching

XAP was engaged by the Chairman of an international, publicly-held company to provide executive coaching and mentoring while assessing a highly complex business environment. The efforts include evaluating, re-structuring and reorganizing the leadership team. XAP continues to hold a position in this medical based, research and development company.

Pivoting a Start-Up

XAP was engaged with an early-stage advertising company to assist with business and operational process development. Serving as interim COO, we partnered with the business owner and developed a 90-day framework for vetting multi-market opportunities, streamlining operational costs, and establishing a scalable infrastructure.

Assisted Launch of a Revolutionary Platform Technology

XAP partners assisted with the launch of an international start-up in the health diagnostics space that offers a powerful rapid diagnostic testing reader that works with all test kits; reads many different disease profiles; offers fast, accurate, machine read, quantitive assessment; records all tests in real-time to a powerful, AWS cloud solution; and is in use addressing a variety of diseases across the globe. This company’s approach to digital diagnostics promises to revolutionize the way we think about healthcare. Our partners helped with the initial raise, company formation and launch, lead the board, and are about to secure a second round of funding.
